The various recognized authentication systems have shown their weaknesses. Passwords are difficult to keep and easily cracked. Faces are reconstructed by images to bypass facial recognition. Fingerprints, although unique, can be left on a glass, a door, a table and are thus reproduced.

To deal with this, Fujitsu offers PalmSecure, a system for authenticating the venous network of the palms of the hand. The venous network is different from person to person, and unlike fingerprints, the venous network is internal and not visible to the naked eye. It is therefore almost impossible to reconstruct it. In addition, PalmSecure authentication requires deoxidized blood circulation in the palm of the hand, which makes attempts to duplicate a venous network unnecessary. Several other companies like Hitachi and Sony have entered vein biometrics by developing VeinID and Mofiria respectively.
